Developing courageous women of action
What makes us special?
St Vincent's College for girls (Years 7-12) has been on the same site at Potts Point in inner Sydney since it was founded by the Sisters of Charity in May 1858. It is the oldest Catholic girls’ school in NSW (for day students and boarders).
From the beginning, the Sisters believed in the value of a girls’ education and the strength of a Catholic faith. Today, St Vincent’s continues to provide a high standard of education encouraging excellence, critical inquiry, independence in learning and above all, commitment to truth and personal integrity.
With such a strong history, the experiences and knowledge gained and celebrated by staff and students over the years build a continuing process of striving for personal and communal excellence.
The college fosters creativity, discernment and leadership in the development of students to be courageous women of action. Our proudly held values are
- Generosity of Spirit
- Hope
- Justice
- Respect
- Service of the Poor
These five college values create our ethos. They underpin all aspects of our community with a solid grounding in social justice instilled in every aspect of daily life.
Essentially, as we look to a future filled with opportunity for women in Australia, St Vincent’s is all about empowering young women to be independent in thought, compassionate in attitude and confident to act.
Education at St Vincent’s prepares young women for a bright future in a brave new world.
